Yes, the poor Arabs of Palestine became refugees. They were not alone. Also on the refugee list of the late forties were:

3 million Sudeten Germans
2 million East Prussians
7 million Pakistani Hindus
7 million Indian Muslims
400,000 European Holocaust Survivors
700,000 Jews from the Arab lands

Seen against that list, 700,000 Arabs from Palestine is but one more entry on the list, not a big one at that.

The difference that counts is that of all those entries, only one one group are still "refugees" today, together with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. All the others were resettled and got on with their lives as best they could.

I'll leave you to pick out the reasons for that.

You are dead wrong. Her demand for context from Leon was called for. The 9/11 rejectionist site he got his unattributed facts from also tell a story. I dont buy into the Nadine view of history either. Of course bad things were done by both natives and former natives alike. Peace only comes when it is recognized on both sides that the history of the conflict is less important than the existing facts on the ground on any given date. Wasting time has been the biggest mistake made by the Pals. Years later they sort of keep coming back to the table to accept the last deal that they rejected. Mike
