My own concerns about Europe have to do mostly with their huge Islamic immigrant class, which is turning more radical all the time and is isolated and underemployed and is definitely not assimilating. The debate about head scarfs in public schools in France was interesting--they have been outlawed, but the net result may be even less assimilation, as Muslim girls are kept at home or educated privately in what would probably be educationally substandard Muslim schools instead. And the stabbing/shooting death of the Dutch filmmaker Van Gogh was quite shocking. European society has been very tolerant of Muslims so far because they are socially tolerant in general, but now there is a gathering awareness of the potential danger in their societies from violent Islamists. Some people believe it may already be too late, however.
