Bush said that Saddam had not disarmed over the last twelve years when he actually had. The sanctions were working.

No one will dispute that Saddam was a tyrant and needed to be taken from power. The question is in the method GW chose. He could have continued to ratchet up the pressure with inspections and resolutions. Continuing th build intl support for his ouster. This would have brought Saddam down with far fewer deaths and without the backlash of insurgent swe see in Iraq today.

While it is now impossible to simply back out and we must stay the course, having seen the decision making of this president I am afraid of what he will do the next time. I do not trust his instincts.
