Means test it. That could be a big cut.

Have you thought about how that could be implemented? Nothing comes quickly to my mind.

Tim, I suspect you are either not older, have no preexisting condition or have never tried to get health insurance on your own. Unless you are in a group, the health insurance companies CHERRY PICK the people they will issue policies too and if you have the slightest problem or ever had any problem they will price the policy so high that only the very wealthiest could afford it and that is IF they would issue one at all.
When I was 47 I retired, NOT knowing all of this. I had had a Kidney Stone operation YEARS before and they USED THAT in an attempt to DRAMATICALLY increase the premium. Now I am 61, have treatable high blood pressure and treatable (actually blood tests now show normal levels) Type II Diabetes and they dont want me at ALL anymore. I am telling you all of this in case there are others out there thinking of retiring before they are old enough for Medicare, if you are thinking of that MAKE SURE you got your insurance covered. jdn
