How could it kill his career? The majority of Israelis agree with the pull out.

If most of his own party stops backing him, that's a huge problem.

Z, I just think that is a big game. Sharon proposes something; the Likud balks initially and then reluctantly goes along with it. It ensures that Sharon's actions do not have to be too sweeping. For an example, pull out of Gaza but build up the East Jerusalem suburbs.

Bush embraces the Dems all the time.......it means squat.

Difference is, a lot of the Israeli left is embracing him as well.

A lot? I thought a few......you many know better.

Why would he? Most Palestinians believe that it is Hamas that keeps the pressure on Israel to consider their freedom.

Because of all that Hamas represents...

Remember.....to the Palestinians, Hamas does not just represent freedom but food, clothing and medical attention.

You are worried about something he wrote 50 years ago. What about Sharon saying just three years ago that the Palestinians will never be free?

Early '80s, but I guess that's neither here nor there. And, yes, I can see your point here.

Nope.....just three years ago on national Israeli tv.

I just haven't seen a single sign that Abbas is better than Arafat since taking over, and I've seen a couple of very small signs that Sharon's behaving a bit better.

Its only been a week........you must be very observant. <g>
