The terrorists don't want Abbas or the peace process ever to be strong. Hamas does not want it to be strong. To be strong, Abbas must show he can more things forward with Israel. If he does move things forward there will be attacks from terrorists threatened by his success -- but his success will also strengthen his ability to squeeze the terrorists out of the PA. But if Israel says get rid of the terrorists first and insure they cannot strike -- then you have nothing to go on because he is almost certainly not going to be able to do that.
