What do you think of the now GOP GA house leadership being lambasted for not appointing black democrats to committee chairmanships when the GOP took over as the majority this month? Apparently, some think the fact that they are democrats should be ignored simply because they are black.

There's always the possibility that he voted against her because she's a black woman who failed to toe the liberal
Democrat line expected of all good people of color.

Haven't you ever asked yourself why prominent black
people, whether male or female, who lean to the conservative
side and are not Al Sharpton wannabes, are almost invariably lambasted as an "Uncle Tom" or worse?

As for the specifics of the vote, it appears that Kerry
is harboring delusions of grandeur to the effect that he'll
be successful in the 2008 race and that Boxer has decided to
accept the role of party pitbull because she doesn't care about
reelection. (She won't run again and only did so this last
time at the request of her party.)

Kerry and Boxer the only members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to vote against Rice's nomination. I'm glad to see the other Dems on the Committee put aside partisanship and voted for the nomination.

Does this mean Kerry will actually be an active participant in Senate proceedings this term?
