Re: Unless plans have changed, AMD isn't targeting more than that in the desktop dual core market this year.

Really? Where did AMD say that? And what does that mean? Does that mean AMD always planned to produce a very, very small amount of dual core desktop CPUs just so they could pull a "PR stunt" and say they had the best dual core desktop performance? Or did AMD know all along Intel was planning to flood the market with inexpensive Smithfields while no one else had a clue Intel was going to do so?

If anyone here would have said AMD was targeting <=5% 2005 dual desktop marketshare on this board a few months ago because of intense competition from Smithfield they would have been laughed at and ridiculed to no end. Now all of a sudden it was AMD's plan all along. Riiiiiiight.

And I'm not sure the desktop dual core market is going to be that large this year. OEMs can't be pleased about 130W cooling requirements for mid-range consumer desktop systems.
