AMD's target for dual core is servers and workstations. Which makes sense. Because it is a flagship product, in addition to being an Opteron in a different package, there will also be at least one FX dual core.

Smithfield makes no sense. A mid-range desktop dual core product is tapping a non-existant market. Sure, there are some enthusiasts that will be interested, but that is a pretty small niche.
