I've read that, Suma, and similiar articles. hey, wouldn't you rather die in the gutter than be saved by a queer? ;) It is wierd, huh? But such is life. As a teen, in the late 70's, I seriously thought about a career in the military. But they asked that question then, and I knew I couldn't lie. So it didn't happen. I wonder how many people think about that... how it feels to not be considered good enough to die for your country. Odd that. To be told your not good enough to die. hmmm.

That's very sad. Imagine kicking anyone out of the service at this time for a reason as silly as sexual orientation. Now if they had tortured people or something, well yeah- let's kick them out, but sexual orientation? We don't have bigger things to worry about?

Apparently not.

But at least we'll have no gays in our military! That's the important thing. Not the lack of WMDs or that thousands die because Bonzo was quick on the trigger and a terrible aim. Not the fact that Fearless Leader SAID he never wanted to engage in "nation building" or that he and his team of high-level thinkers and big-picture corporate people TOTALLY missed the boat on their Intel, expecting Americans to be greeted as "liberators". I feel so much safer that there are fewer homosexuals in the voluntary service of the nation! It's good to know the Commander in Chief is still on the ball, focusing on the things that really matter.

That is really too bad, Suma. I would love to read the article, if you can find it again. America is alone among western, industrialized nations in its backwards, ignorant stance on homosexuality. What a waste of skilled translators, something we need desperately at the moment!

Ignorance is ignorance, plain and simple.
