Well, it depends what you mean by yields. The yields of low-bin Smithfields are, in my estimation, almost certainly significantly higher than the yields of high-bin single core Prescotts. (That is, how many good Smithfields can you get from N attempted dies in both cases.) Why? Because Intel doesn't get very many top-bin parts that can meet the TDP. You have a point about the TDP constraint on the 3.2GHz Smithfield. I guess my point is that because the bin is so much lower from Smithfield, the non-linearity of power to frequency really helps out, and so I think it will be easier to produce Smithfield than high-bin Prescott.
