Ten A Frenchman willing to negotiate with terrorists and brutal murderers?
Take a look into newer history, and you will wonder how many terrorists and brutal murderers got downright support by all kind of "freedom loving" nations if "national interest" is at stake.

So don't read too much into "Frenchmen". That's not the point here.

Boris, you don't understand........he has to read too much into the Frenchmen thing. If he doesn't that he has to take the content of the article seriously, and that's the last thing he wants to do.

I forgot to tell you that these people are very 'smart', and they know best no matter what the facts tell them. ;~)

Boris, So don't read too much into "Frenchmen". That's not the point here.

The last time France tried negotiating with murderous madmen, they ended up relying on FDR and Churchill to save them from their mistake.

But I guess this time, it's "different." Maybe we should just let them have Afghanistan and Iraq and hope they leave us alone after that. But of course, we know that's not going to happen, so let's give them Israel as well. Then they'll just stop there and go no further, right?

Personally, I find no reason to trust that Frenchman's captors. So they're not willing to surrender. So they're stronger, more well-financed, and more single-minded than he originally thought. Maybe that's a wake-up call to us. Or we can keep dreaming and asking them "pretty please."
