Bill, I researched the topic of cultural Homogeneity vs Heterogeneity to some extent. Here is what I found. It is true that in homogeneous (everyone alike) cultures people tend to be more stable and get along better. That is a definite strength. The weakness is that people are averse to going against the flow. So innovation and experimentation are stifled in exchange for keeping group harmony. People are even likely to go along with bad ideas or keep tradition that has become obsolete or even destructive rather than buck the system. In heterogeneous (diverse) groups people are more mobile and interested in persuing innovative ideas. So, change and renewal is a fairly thriving endeavor. The weakness is that people buck each other and the system much more readily. This leads to conflict and disharmony in the culture. Of course the idea of diversity has been corrupted by liberals... gotta learn the code speak of modern times.
