I think it is your ignorance that is showing. Look up France's and Germany's demographics, in particular Muslim populations and percentages of the whole. Look up the Muslim populations growth rate. Then you will understand why France and Germany is kowtowing to Muslims and the Middle East. They are dealing with perhaps the biggest immigrant integration issue that Europe has faced in many decades, if not centuries.

I just gave you the statistics and you ignore them, including the fact that emigration to Europe from Islam has slowed dramatically. Here......if you trust the CIA, then check out their website for yourself:

You are loopy! Muslims in Europe have even less political capital than Africans in Europe. You claim the Europe is bowing down to the wishes of their Muslim immigrant population is similar to a claim that the US was bowing down to the large Vietnamese immigrant population in the 1970's (in other words, you're wrong). It takes many generations for immigrants to rise to a position of power in their new countries. Mexicans have been coming to the US for many, many decades, and they are just in the past ten years beginning to be felt as a political force.

Muslim immigrants to Europe are poor, working class folk, and they don't dictate any country's policies. What they do is work in factories and clean houses and hotel rooms.

Mindmeld, I doubt that France and Germany have the same prime motives for their appeasing stance to Islam Middle East. With France and their 6 million Muslims I agree with you that keeping "peace in our time" with this block may be a prime driver for Chirac. Germany is a different case, however, where Schroder's prime ambition is but working on his long term "what-did-I-say" credibility after having played the anti American card to get re-elected 2 years ago. Fundamentally his prime motive thus is in full agreement with Chirac's secondary motive... or his prime (see below).

Last but not least, both powers being traditional if somewhat "dusty" contestants for the Top Dog of Nations position, given a national referendum the US would never win a popularity contest in Paris or in Berlin. Before or after Iraq that is.
