Al Sadr has said these things no doubt, but the two questions i would ask are:
1. Does he believe this or is he using it for political gain?
2. Is he capable, whether he believes what he says or not, of entering into a short term tactical alliance of sorts with the US to rid the country of the baathist/jihadist disease?
3. What is his relationship with Iran? I assume that given his beliefs expressed in your posts, they do not take him seriously as and islamic scholar but will make use of his populism for as long as it is needed.

I can see a US/Iran/Iraqi govt/sistani/al quaeda/kurdish/breakaway nationalist sunni s/t alliance in the offing. Possible???
