I'm not around any of the above very much. The more interesting question would be to ask a number of Koreans whether they can tell Thai's apart from Koreans. And so on. My guess is yes.

It's a well known issue in soc/psych that most groups claim members of their own are easily distinguished one from another, but that other groups "all look the same". I.e. to a white, most blacks look confusingly similar, while to many blacks, whites look confusingly similar. One gets used to keying off different attributes. Thats why I said "with practice" I think I could tell French, Italian and Spanish apart from English and German. I suspect many Europeans would be much better at it than I am.

I like ethnic restaurants as well, although being vegetarian, it is sometimes a bit harder. Middle Eastern ones are often quite good that way however.
