I vaguely remember that KLIC is being used as "Cannary", as it is a backender, for the health of the industry ?

I dont even really grasp the concept of the backend vs the frontend. Only know AMAT etc are the "frontend" and KLIC (and may be TER ?) the "backend".

Can anyone explain it ?
