Mary,

I understand all that about your opinion of Senator Byrd, but he often uses language that would get others in trouble. The recent interview on TV being just the latest incident that belies any conversion. Saying 'I disavow my KKK past' and still using the word 'nigger' in 2005 is pushing the envelope in my opinion.

To many of us it appears you have a double standard and give Byrd a lot of breaks. So the question is - Did you make the same allowances for Senators Lott or Thurmond?

As to the 'love of country' defense - David Duke loves his country, I am just not sure his concept of country is the same that you and I are discussing :-)
