Oh I believe it all right. I also believe most Europeans are sticking their heads in the sand.

The latter is true but the former not.
During the Reagan administration and the "Doppelt Beschluss", where Reagan decided to match the Sovjet increase in IBCMs while at the same time offering a bilateral reduction of same.
At the time German beer bars were at the brink of capitulating to the friendly and oh so peaceloving Sovjet while being ready to sever any ties to The Cowboy and all he was standing for.

Frankly speaking, me being a realist, back in the eigthies I was convinced that whoever nourished a dream of a Germany united while still being a member of Nato as opposed to neutralized, should in fact have his mind tested for bugs.

The Germans at the time saw the peaceloving Russians closer to them than the crazy US cowboys playing with fire too close to the powder.

JF, It's never been like this. You can choose not to believe it if that makes you more comfortable.

Apparently, you didn't read some of the articles posted today.......it talks about how the EU is increasing its military spending independent of NATO and over our objections; that it is developing its own worldwide global satellite system independent of ours. And China is rethinking whether it will continue to tie its monetary unit to the dollar. I wonder how many dollars they have in their treasury.

Trust me, this is just the beginning. The world order is changing because we have a neocon evangelist at the helm.......and those changes are not to our advantage.

The Europeans are the realists. The US government is following a handful of extreme fringe intellectual ideologues(off a cliff). If you start paying attention, you'll find that many Republicans are expressing the same concerns (in muted voices so far).

Things are breaking really bad for this country. We can continue to blame 9/11, isolate ourselves and live in fear, or we can get over it and move on. But we're not going to get any help from this admin. They need to be stopped.
