Apologies if this has been covered.

Do shares in metals stocks usually peak at the same time as the metal? I was looking at oil in the 70's and the companies XOM, CVX and others had their peak stock price a few years before earnings peaked. For the metals miners will the top in share price coincide with a peak in earnings or will the share price anticipate by a period of time?
