Ted, Algeria is fine but you totally forget Tunis... A former girlfriend of mine and a current best friend of my family (incl. my wife, yes, that is very North European...) was born there by French Jewish parents, moved to Nice at 12 when the French were kicked out and later to NYC, where she became a famous artist. Her family goes back to a long line of Jewish people living in peace with the Arabs around the Mediterranean until the British started meddling into their affairs. Taro
