I've watched to many analyst calls over the years where the a stock tanks after their warning and their company is buying up the shares when it bottoms. Also watch my fair share of big buy ratings just before they sell it off to change my view.

Analysts get paid to make stock calls and drive their firms clients to buy or sell based on their opinions.

Whether what they do is good for the stock holder well I guess that depends on whether they are pumping the stock or dumping it. My guess is their loyalty is to the hand that feeds them.

It could be that SanDisk isn't doing a good job of managing street expectations

Agreed, and as the communication improves, we will have greater leverage to the upside. Nothing is better for a stock than a pimp on the inside making the analyst look like geniuses. Ah yes, for SNDK 2005 is feeling like 1999.

PE expansion baby!!! get the word out...
