In my estimation, CF was the de facto standard for digital cameras if you consider
that the high end Canon and Nikon semi-pro and professional cameras use CF slots.

Even Fuji has taken this stance...

I still think CF is the most practical format for use in digital cameras
based on size, ease of use and compatibility with PCMCIA slots.

Now if '987 had only held up in court!!!

I think you mis-interpret the purpose of the sell-side analyst. The purpose of the sell-side analyst is to disseminate information. Few on the buy side base their capital allocation decision on the analysts ratings.
