Hello Dave,

The purpose of the sell-side analyst is to disseminate information

And all these years I've thought their purpose was to generate investment banking clients or brokerage commissions.

Whatever their purpose is they have never done anything for me but cost me money. So like the Lawyers 10000 at the bottom of the Ocean would be a good start.

I get that they are there to disseminate info however what happens after the info is disseminated is what I'm complain about. I've heard a lot of bad info disseminated lately and find to many believe the garbage they are hearing.

A the days when mankind questioned the slime from the TV set, the internet or the Newspaper.

Dave,

Few on the buy side base their capital allocation decision on the analysts ratings.

Don't forget the buy-side analysts. The public doesn't become aware of the buy-side analysis because making his/her opinion available to the public is rarely benefitial to the buy-side analyst.
