I was just looking at the CIA world factbook entry on the USA. Did not realize that we have the world's third largest population, after China and India.

Also, by far the world's largest economy.

No way would we be as productive as we are if military service was compulsory and universal.

It would be nice if you could grasp this.

Far cheaper to pay just the enlisted men we actually need $30K to start, and by that I mean cash, not counting the benefits.

On second thought, starting new enlisted men at $30K is too low. New police officers in the District start at $40K, from the day they enter the Academy.
