i also check my bank statement...have found errors at the bank.

for example charging me a monthly fee of about $4.00 for not maintaining min balance for free checking.. yet i have a loan outstanding that counts towards avoiding charge... If you do not verify charges you will not get credits back.. some banks will only go back three months on errors and refuse to adjust for bank charges older than three months.

i also found the same thing when doing taxes on my sons account at another bank.. he was unaware as he never balances his checking account ,, lives on atm updates (which i never use)..

I have also found a bank change systems or do updates and again charges appear on statement. for peace of mind i check the statements each month.

I found a $40.00 error on my statement last month. It really pays to balance your account on a monthly basis imo.

I assume you know that you can file your Virginia state taxes online with no charge. Very efficient and pain-free.

If you e-file with the IRS using TurboTax, they will give you a rebate so you get the cost back if you remember to send in the rebate form.
