Interestinly the Fed has not been monetizing during the last two months.

My take is Fed is trying to stablize US dollar.

*Equity funds report net cash inflows totaling $4.294 billion in the week ended 2/2/05, with Domestic funds reporting 55% of the inflows ($2.364 Bil) because of large ETF activity:
$681 Mil to iShares DJ US Real Estate Index fund (91% Assets);
$630 Mil to iShares Russell 2000 Index;
$233 Mil to iShares S&P 500 Index;
International Funds report inflows ($1.441 Bil) to all Developed and Emerging regions with more funds reporting inflows (686) than any week since 11/10/04;
Taxable Bond funds report inflows totaling $905 million with the largest inflows going to Balanced funds ($415 Mil) and International & Global Debt funds ($318 Mil);
Treasury funds report inflows totaling $300 million because of large ETF activity:
$145 Mil to iShares Lehman TIPS Bond fund;
$75 Mil to iShares Lehman 7-10 Yr Treasury Bond fund;
$27 Mil to iShares Lehman 1-3 Yr Treasury Bond fund;
Money Market funds report outflows totaling -$17.833 billion;
Municipal Bond funds report net cash inflows of $299.6 million, with High Yield Municipal Bond funds report net cash inflows of $146.8 million.
*Beginning next week AMG is giving its customers a free upgrade, doubling the reports and login options to also reflect net fund flow activity excluding ETF flows.
