I believe the Repubs are hoping for a Clinton/Obama ticket because they KNOW their minions are still fighting the civil war and the civil rights movement. The Dems are hoping that Bush keeps pushing to kill SS and throw seniors into poverty. The Dems haven't seen a populist issue like SS in a very long time. Meanwhile, all the other problems in the world are percolating (is 2005 really the year of worldwide peak oil production?) and are being ignored. We can just fight amongst ourselves until we implode.
