This is an example of another phenomenon that occurs here with some frequency. Discussed briefly in the last few days by LB and me was the invalid inference people make when others post articles that the poster supports the substance of the article. That's similar to your inference about my motivation in commenting about Roth IRAs--that I must be coming at it from the perspective of my personal stake.

Actually, long a matter of academic interest to me, stemming primarily from my interest in systems of governance, what obligation legislators have to either not change the rules in midstream or to either phase in the changes or compensate losers when they do. You see that in the SS proposals where the changes are to be phased in. Not everything people post reflects their personal stake. FWIW. <g>
