It's not an accurate comparison. Arabs invaded Israel from all sides. Israel defended itself and routed the Arabs in the process. Israel has attempted to pull back multiple times, but the Palestinians are like 50 different factions all vying to outdo each other in the number of Israelis they kill. So no Palestinian leader so far has been able to control the Palestinians enough to offer a true peace accord with Israel. The stated purpose of many of the Palestinian factions (Al Aqsa, Hamas to name 2) is the complete eradication of Israel. How can peace be possible with a neighbor that wants your destruction more than peace and prosperity for themselves?

Luckily for the Israelis, they have some very rich patrons. What is remarkable is that the Israelis as brutal as they are, could have ended this conflict long ago. They have it within their power to wipe out all the Palestinians, but they don't. They show remarkably restraint. The Palestinians show no restraint. If they had the power that the Israelis have, the Israelis would be bombed into the sea. That is guaranteed.

Oh and btw, the Palestinian issue is as much an Arab issue as it is an Israeli issue. Why have none of the Arab neighbors allowed immigration into their countries from Palestine? The reason is that they don't care about the Palestinians. They want to use them as a tool to keep Israel weak. Nevermind that Israel has always been the largest source of jobs for for the people in the region.
