Smithee,I understand that the Unix operating system came out of UC Berkeley and that LSD first came into popularity there

Actually, Timothy Leary, who is famous for having popularized LSD, was on faculty at Hahvahd University. UC Berkeley is more famous for having spawned often violent demonstrations against the Viet Nam war.

Unix came out of Bell Labs, AT&T at the time.

A popular variant came out of UC Berkeley.
