I thought of one possibility. GOOG does things differently. If institutions were going to load up on GOOG wouldn't it make sense for them to buy direct from the employees? Just huge block transactions. If that happened, then the unlock would be a non-event.

Mark, RE: Call it Google religion, Google family, or whatever...I think those employees all share it.

True. And the main reason they share that religion is because the stock price has gone up.

That works only until it doesn't. The stock price starts going down, and people tend to lose religion.

My wife was offered a job at Google last summer, and decided not to take it for entirely personal reasons. But she did tell me after being allowed to see something of their plans, that she was VERY impressed, and that her concern for them was entirely one of execution, not vision. My wife is very hard-headed, so this reaction made a big impression on me. Unfortunately, she was also sufficiently constrained by things that she had signed that she didn't tell me anything at all about what she had seen -- that's the first time that this has ever happened, but they really care about security there.

Anyway, it's an impressive company that is way ahead in a very important space. I don't have a position in it, but that's only because I'm overexposed in other high tech stock that I'm gradually selling off, and made the decision not to go in at the IPO even though I expected them to do very well, and still do.
