You assume the system is pure free market. In fact it is manipulated and fixed by policy and law, and is a constant power struggle. Right now those on the top are winning for various reasons. The US is a vast economic machine that spins off a lot of free cash flow. Where it goes is determined by who is in power. At this point in time the income distribution is dramatically favoring those at the top... but if it goes over the top (and it has) then you will have social upheavel, and change. It's not if, it's when the folks on the short end of the stick start to organize. If the "haves" get too selfish, they will be shown that the "have nots" can take everything away. Because at the end we're all in this together. John
