Well, I nor anyone else knows what the final plan will be as George Bush DID NOT endorse any plan, rather he threw out a number of options that Congress should debate and consider. He made it very clear he leans toward an OWNERSHIP society (which makes a lot of sense to me and I understand where he is coming from there), and raising Payroll taxes is OFF THE TABLE. jdn

it's a cult. because u donate your 500,000 home to the annuity SS fund. and the fun pays u 200 dollars a month for the rest of your life (0r 20 years whichever comes first). then it pays your son 300 dollars a year for 20 years. and that leaves u pretty much below the poverty line. pissed off and screaming at your 3rd wife in texas.

The only survivors who get the deceases SS are spouses. SS is like having a bank account, a business, and a house and if you and your spouse die, you can't leave any of it to your relatives, instead its all immediately seized by the Government.

Most annuity contracts have options that allow for guaranteed payouts for stated terms, 10-15-20 years...This keeps the contract holder from being victimized by early death as in the SS program.

In my broker days, any annuity contract I sold came with the advice of never take the payments, enjoy the tax advantages and take the lump sum payment option at the appropriate time.
