Yes, I know. I try to avoid using jargon if I can. I wasn't so much talking about the bonds held by SS, but by the fact that Bush's proposal, as any that attempt to privatize, will cost us additional money in the short term.

The thing is that even without fixing the problem Bush's plan, by his people's own admission, will cost an additional $1.5 trillion in the short term. More over the next 20 years. So we have to spend trillions to not fix the problem, even more if we want a fix. Additional short term debt is not what we need. Especially if it doesn't fix the problem.
