I've asked myself the same questions. I see many promoting other sites. Recently I've tried mama.com, searchguy.com and answers.com. Each had their very fanatical fans claiming it was the "next" google or "better than" google.

I lost interest rapidly.

The only other search I still use is Askjeeves, probably 1) a testament to the money I made on the ride back up <ggg> and 2) its simple interface that seems to lead to better results in a few cases. That said, I don't use it more than 5% of my searches and sold my shares a while ago.

In general, every time I think of shorting GOOG, the same thoughts go through my mind. With them coming out with a new application every month or two, I can't pull the trigger on a short. OTOH, I've been foolish not to buy and hold in retrospect, but I'm not going to start now.
