The problem with the suitcase nuke is that it takes a significant economic base to produce. The US can do it, the old USSR might have, but the present Russia or China cannot. It's not a matter of whether plans exist, it is a matter of being able to do precision and specialized manufacturing. However, a "Fatman"(not a "Littleboy") style bomb is doable by many countries, given the materials. The problem is delivery. Delivering a package that masses 10k+ kilos, covertly, is a problem unless there is a breakdown in reasonable police procedures. Hence my scenario. According to some sources, the suitcase nukes are already in existence.........they were made by the Russians. The fear is that they are in terrorist hands and will be delivered to some location in the US. However, the trick is getting such a bomb to the site. And its not just getting through customs that's the issue. A miniaturized nuke is still a big bomb. Its not easily handled. Plus it requires a certain level of technical ability to detonate it at the designated site. The reality is that those bombs most likely are still under Russian/Ukrainian control. The longer they remain undetonated, the less likely they will be any good. Its not likely the Iranians have any nor the capacity to make them. Frankly, I am sick of the entire subject and I am more sicken by the fear that this doomsday scenario invokes in America's leaders. We are about to start another war because we are terrified something bad my happen to this country sometime in the future......maybe. Its like we have this big fly swatter and we are hitting all around because we are not sure what we are hitting. It makes little sense. All I can is this country better get a grip.......invading one country after another is not the solution. ted
