These tests are necessarily impotent because their results are calibrated to some shifting source. How do you objectively measure a guy's views by a handful of subjective questions? It is just plain impossible. My reasons for taking the same view as you on a specific issue may be for philosophical reasons you utterly reject - and these little "tests" simply cannot objectively discover this.

For example, one test asked whether I agreed with the idea that no law should be passed regarding consensual sex. I heartily agreed with this. And, predictably, the "test" claimed I would be a match for the Libertarian Party! It claimed I am "tolerable" of "diversity" when I am no such thing.

A sodomite may heartily agree with the idea that no law should be passed regarding consensual sex because he wants the government to have no say at all about his filthy life. On the other hand I agree with the idea because I think the sodomite and his sodomite "partners" should be free even to kill themselves via sex if that is what they wish. If they wish to attend their bug chasing orgies, I say go right ahead and enjoy it. After all, they own their own lives and should be free to mess them up if they wish. Government should leave me completely free to reject sodomites because of their filthy lives. It should pass no law regarding consensual sex either way. Like sodomites, decent people can also do as they please with regard to sexual behavior, even discriminating to the fullest extent against sodomite perverts if they wish.

It has nothing to do with "religion" or anything of the sort. And yet all of these tests missed it, lumping me with a bunch of lily-livered Libertarian statists. It is impossible for a "test" to capture the essential view of anyone by asking high-level subjective questions. The test must first and foremost be calibrated against a core philosophy which is anchored in nature.

Try #2... the Political Compass Test.

Of the three I found, it seemed the most insightful.

As to the 'Party Matcher test', I agree with you that the results are imperfect.... All they have to go by is the announced PLATFORMS of the various political parties to determine 'what each party stands for', (but then, what else could they go by? They can't read minds....)
