if I don't want to be a cannibal's livestock, I'd better grab a club or something and stand by to fend them off. Even if they don't want to eat me, there are plenty who want to enslave me. In fact, it's over half the population, as demonstrated by voting patterns around the world and the extorquerationate taxation they forcibly extract for their own ends, not mine.

I am reminded of that other great thinker, Dan Quayle, who said, a mind is a terrible thing to lose . Truer words were never said.

Mike Tyson wants to eat your heart and only your children whole. OBL claims he is forced to kill so that his people are not enslaved by western civilization. L'll Kim, the Korean Sun God, wants his rightful place under the sun. And, you only want to defend yourself from all the hooligans in the world.

Peaceniks have their work cut out for them. But, (take heart - I mean figuratively speaking ) Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Ghandi, John Lennon, and Jesus Christ got it together and sort of made it work.

Don't you think that is a pretty powerful refutation of your thesis? Can you put that in your equation?

As to your list of "little boy" leaders, I couldn't agree more about the necessity for real human beings to stand up to these petty tyrants and prevaricators. The world is far too precious and fragile to be in the hands of such unscrupulous manipulators.

For the most part I have always been optimistic about the future. When I look at my boys list, I am comforted in knowing the likes of L'll Kim would never be elected dog catcher if elections were in play in North Korea.

Unless nations closed themselves off from modern technology, the Internet, and mass communications, there is no chance that anyone can lead without the consent of those being led.

Recent elections in the United States, however, has shaken my faith and optimism for the future, but it has not completely broken my spirits. Even here, imo if we had more transparency, what happened could not happen again.

It is the next generation Arthur Miller's that have broken ranks. They are the apologists and the ennablers that tip the scales toward unenlightenment (darkness is too dramatic a word for the current situation). I hope it is just temporary and happenstance.

As for Jay and Maurice, they are two of the smartest people on the Internet, but their talents for the most part are wasted. They are flippant and not terribly serious. Maurice flirts with the dark side and ennables the intellectually challenged to at least cut and paste his rants and use it to justify things they could never justify on their own.

These days, just as canaries are for coal miners, Maureen Dowd and Laura Flanders are my canaries. If they are shut down, it will signal for me that lights are going out.
