Please recall a recent discussion where you read between the lines of what Bush said about religious believers and drew conclusions from what he did not say about non-believers.

Funny, I was thinking about that this very morning. I am well aware of different shoes and different feet.

I'll tell you the difference, though. I was entirely up front about the basis for my position during that discussion and acknowledge the vulnerability of it. I never lost sight of the difference between what Bush said and what I believed he meant.

It's too much to ask us not to read between the lines and draw our own conclusions, which may be accurate or may be erroneous.

No, not at all. Nor is it too much to expect people to recognize that that's what you're doing, especially when it's brought to their attention. There is a difference between "what Eason said was..." and "how I interpreted that was..." or even the presumptuous "what he insinuated or implied was..." No, I don't think there's any excuse for not being able to distinguish and particularly not for being unwilling to distinguish when you are able. And most particularly for assailing anyone anyone not recognizing the inherent truth of one's interpretation.
