Very interesting. Thanks for bringing this up. More research is required.

Social Security is unsustainable in its present form. By the time my children retire, SS will take over half the federal budget. With the growth of MediCare liabilities, it should grow to over half the federal budget by then. It sort of squeezes everything else out.

What is the risk? The return in any reasonably managed private account is going to make the return on what you pay into SS look piddly.....
