Danged optimist. You're asking an ideologue rational questions based on facts? ROTFLMAO.

We supposedly invaded Iraq because of the imminent threat of nonexistent nuclear WMDs and SH's nonexistent connection to 911. I'd love to see how Americans (especially those red staters) would reply to this:

Should we invade Iraq, at the cost of hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of lives and injuries, in order to install an Islamic Republic of Iraq run by Ayatollahs?

Yep. Like to see how well that goes over in the Bible Belt LOL.

Pretty good. Your post inspired the whacko fringe to reply. Anything that G-ZeroZero agrees with is suspect.

The course you suggest would have required several times as many troops. Democrats barely authorized the ones that were sent. Democrats cut the military to the point that transportation was stretched to get the troops in that went in. Turkey withdrew permission to use Turkey for transit throwing the whole deployment plan into disarray.

But these facts don't seem to bother you.

Rumsfeld's Iraq plan: many fewer troops than was requested by the military (less than 1/3rd as many. The last I heard was that the military said 560,000). Rumsfeld's playing soldier with real flesh and blood people. He's had this idea all along to have a flexible, high tech military able to get up and go play cop all around the world at a moment's notice.

Rumsfeld purposefully ignored the Powell doctrine of overwhelming force which was developed over two decades after the army-crushing debacle that was Vietnam. The Powell doctrine said you go to WIN. You go with a definite purpose. You go with a definite exit strategy which includes the definition of WIN.

Rumsfeld ignored Powell because he doesn't like him....personally. It's unbelievable that the childish emotions of a single idiot is costing us $300 billion + and the lives of 1465 troops to date.

Unreal. Bush = imbecile. Rumsfeld = despicable.

Now the rightwing for-idiots-only media is trying to blame everyone else EXCEPT for those who are to blame: Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Rice, Cheney, Bush.
