Ted, The Matrix is a Hollywood fantasy land. I am talking about surviving in the real world.

"The Matrix" was just my funny way of describing how a political party portrays current events. For example, many Democrats think Republicans have hyped the threat of terrorism to Bush's advantage. Therefore, to many Americans, the threat of terrorism seems real, even though to Dems, it's only as real as our fears would allow. Same thing with Social Security and how Bush is allegedly creating a crisis that doesn't exist.

In any case, the issues that are most important to Bush get brought forward into the debate, while issues important to Democrats such as universal health care get relegated to the periphery. That's the control over "The Matrix" that the Dems wish they had, despite having a lot of influence on mainstream media.

The only thing they have to take control of his their image. They also must reaffirm their belief in their philosophy. The right has persuaded them that that philosophy is wrong. The only thing wrong is that the Dems are starting to believe them.

I disagree. I don't know of any Dems who are starting to believe things simply because the right is telling them to believe in it. Maybe you're talking about defeatism, which isn't the fault of the right.

If this is all of the changes Clinton has made, its really not much movement in her position. I suspect that you are reading into things.

I never claimed that Hillary has changed her position on anything. I only said that Hillary is trying to sell herself more to the "red states." Kind of like the way Barbara Boxer sold herself as a moderate to Californians last year. It's not about changing one's position; rather, it's about emphasizing only the parts of your position that might appeal to moderates, while hiding or downplaying the parts that polarize.
