That means I don't always agree with the Dems. and I do, at times agree with the GOP.....or I should say I used to. The current GOP I don't understand at all. It seems to have forgone its roots and is blazing a new road that does not feel right to me at all. amazon.com It appears you are not alone in lamenting the change in party affiliations. Perhaps your disaffection with the Republican Party relates to the fundamental realignment that has takes place. The Democrat party now represents the wealthy and the poor and Republicans represent the middle class. When it comes to statements from the press, I don't look to see if the writer is liberal or conservative. I look to see if the writer is making sense given my knowledge of the subject. Most of what's coming out of the right these days isn't making a lot sense......at least not to me. I prefer to read facts rather than a story crafted to convince me of the author's agenda. When I want Op/Ed, I look to the Op/Ed page. There are no non Op/Ed stories in the NYT, Wash Post, Boston Globe, LA Times, etc. IMHO, journalism is about putting facts in front of the reader. If one must editorialize, both sides should be presented, which is why I like Fox. They put a Socialist like Robert Reich on opposite a Conservative like Ann Coulter. I agree with you that they are not into Democrat policy promotion, which makes them unique. I guess that what is coming out of the mainstream left is not making much sense to me. Republicans are leading with ideas (not all good). Democrats are following with critique. One thing I learned in cross-country running was that when you are in front, it is easier to go off course. That never stopped me from leading. It does not seem to be a prohibitory impediment to President Bush either. If Congress would let President Bush kill a few programs, we might get a little fiscal conservation. You and I would both be happier. He submitted a zero budget for about 150 programs. Congress has resurrected and added additional funds to several slated for termination each year. BTW - Message 21055668 - Sorry to bring it up again.
