I agree....I just leave it to Women to make that judgement. All I ask is that you pay my bail when I make a lampshade out of an of age Teacher who decides to take advantage of our 12 year old girls.

Just make sure we don't have an activist Judge because I will need all the help I can get after I kill the Teacher

It would have been if he had had to, but he didn't. She pled guilty. He did not attend the hearing/trial on her punishment phase.

This is a quite good article on the situation -- about as objective a report as you're likely to read. It presents both the legal and the human aspects of the couple, including the fact that letourneau suffered from bipolar disorder.

And not that it probably matters to anybody here, but just so we are discussing the actual facts, according to this article, while their close friendship started while he was her student, and in fact when he was only 8, they didn't engage in sexual relations until he had stopped becoming her student, and was 13, not 12. As I say, I doubt it makes any difference to anybody here, but it's always nice to be accurate about facts.
