I totally agree with you that Democracy doesn't mean that people won't act stupidly. :) (Still, I prefer a system where the people actually have a chance at over-throwing bad leaders without bloodshed.... A series of regularly spaced political 'coups' is less likely to build up pressure behind the scenes for truly dangerous blowups. Still... no guarantees. "Hitler was fairly elected right?" Sorta (if you don't count all the crap that went on before hand... just to get him to that position.)
