I totally agree with you that Democracy doesn't mean that people won't act stupidly. :)

(Still, I prefer a system where the people actually have a chance at over-throwing bad leaders without bloodshed.... A series of regularly spaced political 'coups' is less likely to build up pressure behind the scenes for truly *dangerous* blowups.

Still... no guarantees.
