I am surprised that any teacher would refuse to be tested. It runs in the face of everything I have learned and experienced about the teaching profession first hand. If its true and its also true that 60% of MASS teachers failed a simple test, then we have big problems. However, I would have to hear more from the other side before coming to that conclusion.

I did not mean to imply that teacher individually refused tobe tested. The reality is that teachers are unionized in most public districts. Unions fight to limit the ability of employers (in this case school districts) to control their members.

In extreme cases unions have prevented members from being fired for endangering fellow workers lives. I am not implying that teachers unions are this radical yet.

What is the story about Massachusetts teachers? It sounds too bad to be unbiased reporting.
