Let me intervene here.. as I am biased...Why ? I own an inordinate amount of WMT stock..

AND saying that a little story. I recently was in Vegas at the home of friends whose son had worked for WMT.. He said, they are terrible. I asked, well how is SAMS.. He worked there too. He said they are slaves and he hated it . Where did you work that you liked I asked.. Costco he replied. Great place. Treat their employees nice.

He now does real estate flipping with his Father and they have become quite wealthy. No longer needs WMT or SAMS.

Well, I put that information in my hat... and thought about the implications . Oh, it's only one person I told myself.

So, just last week a friend introduced me to a young man who had recently moved to Sarasota. Where do you work ? SAMS.. How is it. Terrible. One day they asked me to come in at 8am.. and I did. They said well we really don't need you now until 9am.So he sat and waited. They did not pay him . They were disorganized.. said he.. and he left after two months..

So, I am perking up my ears about all the negative things I am hearing about WMT and reading too. My broker says, dump WMT and get TGT.. Target..

I said, I don't even know whether I even want to be in retail.

Then CNN comes on that afternoon and tells how WMT rules the retail business . No one can compete. AND once again I think back to the lovely hardware store in Boone NC that closed last summer. It was as old as the town. AND one could not only find everything there but the service was great and it was so quaint that one took guests just to see it.

Why did it close ? Walmart came to town, opened a huge store and the little guys are folding.

Now a conundrum.. WHAT TO DO ? We live in a Capitalistic Society. Business is business and when owns the company's stock.. one want profits and the stock to go up.

On the other hand. I am socially aware or try to be and don't think that I should participate in owning something that is not nice to employees.. has a suit against them by women for sexual discrimination, prevents Unions from coming in and so maybe I will sell WMT..

I may lose money but I might feel a though I took a stand, somehow.
Will any body notice ? I sold NIKE for the same reasons when it was 45.. Lost money on it too at the time but it was using children in foreign countries and paying nothing .

It's 84 plus today. No one mentions NIKE anymore and I wear their shoes.

This Karen is one reason why no matter what a company does, pollutes the environment..poisons it's employees.. not much is done. It's call big business. Money begets money and we all want some. Or most do.

What do you think Karen of this story ? Bottom line ?

I think I will sell. Still ....
