orkrious, re "on the new platform it shows no unread messages"

Wow, that's not an easy thing to detect. If true, that might explain why I sometimes look back in a thread and end up saying "Hmmm, how did I miss *that* post?"

Just type faster. <g>

We keep going back and forth on when the "new posts" count is reset. I think at one point we did have it reset when you clicked the "new posts" number, but not reset when you read the last post in the thread (which would be your own if you wrote a new one), but I'm not sure why we decided to change it so that if you read the last post, the new posts count got reset.

I'm sure our reasons for it at the time were good, but they're not obvious to me at the moment.

Oh, one possibility just occurred to me. If we didn't do it that way and you hit the "new posts" number and read all the way through, but 10 new posts had been written while you were reading, you'd go back to your SubjectMarks and see 10 new posts. One's you just read.

Lemme give this one some thought. For each solution I can think of right now, a fresh problem/inconvenience it'd cause immediately comes to mind.
