I may be wrong about this but europe's lifting of the embargo provides weapons to china that they would need to try to conquer Taiwan.

It's likely that China already has the military capability of taking Taiwan if they choose to. From a military viewpoint it may be the US that is the only barrier. But I don't think the Chinese are dumb; they don't have any desire to destroy the economy on Taiwan by military conflict.

Europe argues, probably correctly, that China will develop it's own production capability for military arms if the embargo is continued. So in terms of China/Taiwan it doesn't make any difference either now or in the long run.

But now that [Hong Kong] hasnt worked out as well as optimists claimed.

Nor has it worked out as bad as some said. Which all goes to show that our ability to predict the future accurately is pretty bad. It also supports my view that in politics predictions are frequently at the extremes ... either all bad or all good and the extremes never happen.

It is hard for folks like me who value freedom and human rights to see Taiwan absorbed into china the way it is structured today.

I personally favor a Two China policy, but that leaves me in a very small minority of FA thought. Why the Chinese don't wake up and look at the spread of the English to multiple independent countries and realize that some of the strength of the English nations is directly a result of their independence is beyond me. I guess Commies can't get past Central Control.
